  • Why I’m Not Excited for Silent Hill f (And What Got Me Hyped at Playstation’s State of Play Instead)

    All that for that?

So yesterday was PlayStation’s State of Play and while I didn’t watch live because I was participating in an event (Run for your Pride DBD open lobby fundraising for The Trevor Project) gaming friend sent me message during match that the State of Play was on, and sent me screenshots — including one for Silent Hill f, which now has a release date.

The Short Message Was Trash — Let’s Just Be Real

I was not happy with Silent Hill short message. That’s an understatement. I HATED IT. So what happens when I start a game that I was looking forward to and it’s awful yet I want to know how it ends? Watch someone else play it and that’s what I did. And the more the story progressed the more I was glad I didn’t progress further on my own. The game is awful. Of course you wouldn’t know that cause everyone was raving & waxing poetic about the monster.

    “She’s so pretty”
    “I love her design”
    🙄

    Sounds familiar?

The same happened with Lady Dimitrescu

Oh I’m sorry “vampire mommy” or whatever Gen Z calls her (I swear they have ruined gaming and that’s another post altogether)

So many comments about how good she looks and getting into lewd territory completely turned me off from playing RE Village. I hated RE 7 anyway, so it didn’t take much.

Sorry, but if your “big bad” is getting fan thirst posts instead of scaring people? That’s a fail.

But I digress… I know you’re probably wondering, “Where is she going with this?” Don’t worry. I’m getting there.

My gaming & Silent Hill history

So I don’t think ppl really know my gaming history so I’ll go into it here very briefly and it’ll tie up together. I started gaming late 80s. Sega master system was my first console while everyone had a Nintendo. I was fine with that cause I discovered RPGs. Yes Nintendo had legend of Zelda but I had Phantasy Star and Ys which I loved.

In high school, early 90s fighters became popular. Street fighter 2 & Mortal Kombat were the rage. I would play in arcades when I had a chance & it was fun trying to figure out the fatalities. Remember this for later 😏

Several years later survival horror was becoming popular, Resident Evil and Silent Hill. I loved them but I loved Silent Hill more. I played and beat the first one. Silent hill 2 came out, I played through that and I think if memory serves me right I finished that too. Silent hill 3 came out and sadly this game would go unbeaten because my father got sick around this time and I couldn’t finish it. Then Silent Hill 4 The Room was about to be released and here’s where things go left

Now, if I tell anybody like millennials I hated Silent Hill 4 my god they do not like that lol. But look, they were kids when it came out. I was an adult. And I played a demo of it before release. And back then demos were vastly different from final release. And the demo of Silent Hill 4: The Room was AWFUL. I hated the gameplay. I couldn’t get into the story. And I refused to get it.

Then Silent Hill 5 came out. The controls and camera view for this game were horrid. I played less than half an hour and returned it. And I washed my hands of Silent Hill and was completely done with the series.

I never played Homecoming or Downpour, nor do I plan on it.

No new Silent Hill games after.

When the Silent Hill Collection dropped, I heard they ruined SH2 by removing the iconic fog. That was all I needed to skip it.

    Silent Hill Resurgence… and Regret

Years pass, and all of a sudden, Silent Hill gets a resurgence and several Silent Hill games are announced.
    Silent Hill 2 remake/remaster. A MASTERPIECE
Silent Hill short message “It’s free and it’s out now,” yeah sure, I’ll download it and check it out. Instant regret. They’re continuing the bad Silent Hill trend again.

So if I’m holding any reservations for Silent Hill f I’m allowed. I’m not getting that on release. I’ll wait for reviews. But let’s be real I’ll wait for a major price drop or for it to be free 🤷🏽‍♀️

    What Actually Got Me Hype

As for the State of Play — the only game that made me happy was one that people seem to be overlooking:

    MORTAL KOMBAT LEGACY KOLLECTION.

WHY DID ANYONE THINK I WAS GOING TO BE EXCITED ABOUT SILENT HILL f WHEN THEY ANNOUNCED A FREAKING MK KOLLECTION?!?

    Final Thought

I know not everyone will agree with my takes — and that’s okay. Most people don’t really know me, don’t chat with me often, and don’t know my story.

That’s exactly why I started this blog.

Not just to rant, but to share my thoughts, my gaming experiences, my history with the genre — and yes, my frustrations too. I blog because I want a space where I can speak freely, without having to water myself down for trends or younger audiences.

This is where I get to be real. This is where I get to be heard.

Whether you agree with me or not, I’m glad you’re here. Because even if it starts with a rant, it always comes back to my love for games, my journey with horror, and my voice as a lifelong fan.

  • What I’m Watching in June: Horror in Theaters, Streaming, and Everything In Between

I’m so glad to be blogging again 🙂

Blog is still a work in progress appearance wise I’ll do what I can 🙂

Now let’s talk biz as V would say in Cyberpunk

Here are the movies I’m interested in watching this month as well as recommend!

    What’s Streaming on Shudder

    The Loved Ones:
Synopsis: “When Brent turns down his classmate Lola’s invitation to the prom, she concocts a wildly violent plan for revenge.” I love this film, and it’s perfect for Prom season!

    We Kill for Love
Synopsis: “In search of the forgotten world of the direct-to-video erotic thriller, an American film genre that once dominated late-night cable television.” I am definitely interested in seeing this documentary. Films like this dominated the 80s. Maybe a review is in order? Or I may discover new films in the process to watch!

    Hell Motel (Shudder Original/Limited Series)
    From the Creators of Slasher!
Synopsis: “Hell Motel sees a group of 10 true crime obsessives invited to the opening weekend of the newly renovated Cold River Motel, the site of a 30-year-old unsolved Satanic Mass Murder. History repeats itself when the guests get stranded and start getting knocked off one by one during a murder spree that grows exponentially more gruesome than the original with each kill.”
I guess there’s no new season of Slasher? But this is just as good seeing a lot of the Slasher cast. And I’ll just say this Slasher > American Horror Story I SAID WHAT I SAID 😏

    Screambox Picks

Screambox has a lot of Fulci films, I’m guessing, since his birthday is on June 17.
He is one of my favorite directors, and his nickname of Godfather of Gore is well earned. If you haven’t seen any Fulci films, I would start with Zombie, but be warned if you don’t like gore, don’t watch cause he’s the best at it, and he has a thing for eyes, I’ll just say 😏
My fave Fulci films are: Zombie, City of the Living Dead, The Beyond, The House by the Cemetery (up until the kid screams, seroiously lower your tv when it happens thank me later), The New York Ripper (my friend and I made fun of this film for weeks lol)

    Mondo Cane 1 & 2
I’ve seen bits and pieces of the first one. This reminds me of Faces of Death (which is mostly fake as Mondo Cane is, maybe 5-10% is real to my knowledge?) It’s from the 60s and honestly, not so shocking I’ve seen much worse (Traces of Death which is 100% real) Yes, I’ve seen all 4 and owned them, and the soundtracks. Yes, I’m weird thats why you’re here 😏

    Bleeding (Screambox Exclusive)
Synopsis: “In a world where vampire blood is harvested as a drug, two desperate teenagers on the run from a vicious dealer break into an empty house and find a sleeping girl locked inside.” Sounds like True Blood with people using V. I’ll check this out!

    Prime

Nosferatu (2024) Looks like Prime will be streaming it in addition to Peacock, but the Extended Cut is a Peacock exclusive. I still haven’t seen it fully yet.

    Peacock

Shaun of the Dead: I LOVE THIS FILM, so glad to see it’s on Peacock!
And if you love this film as I do, check out Spaced (series) third episode is partially based on this film, has a lot of the cast and a nice Easter egg tying to the series. Spaced is on Tubi as well as Amazon Prime

    Pluto TV

I normally wouldn’t mention Pluto but they’re going to have 28 DAYS LATER! WATCH!
Pluto will also have Friday the 13th Parts 1-8 because this month we have a Friday the 13th! (only one of the year as well)

    Hulu Horror Highlights

Hulu has the Alien franchise as well as the Predator franchise. (I still have to see Alien Romulus and looking forward to Alien Earth!)

    Theaters

I wrote this post the other day and totally forgot about the one major film thats releasing in theaters and thats 28 YEARS LATER! How did I forget that? lol
This is a must see! I am not sure if I can see while in theaters so I may have to wait till its streaming at home.
    In theaters June 20

    Also releasing in June:
M3GAN 2.0: Looks like a fun campy film, just like the first. In theaters June 27

    The Ritual
Synopsis: “Two priests must put aside their differences to perform a series of dangerous exorcisms on a possessed young woman.”
Al Pacino stars as a priest, sign me up!
    In theaters June 6

    Dangerous Animals
Synopsis: “a surfer who must escape after being abducted by a serial killer intent on feeding her to sharks.”
From the director of The Devil’s Candy, which I really enjoyed. In theaters June 6.

    Final Thoughts

Thats all that has piqued my interest. What are you watching this month? Drop your picks in the comments or hit me up on Twitch to chat about what’s spooky!

  • I’M BACK!

I know its been a while. I have had a lot going on but with a new month, I’m eager to get back to blogging and back to Horror Business as The Misfits would say 😏

I’m relaunching the blog with slightly new look my other posts are gone so completely starting from scratch.

Will be doing my June post for whats currently streaming as well as a review of the Horror Game Summer Showcase (I was also an official Co-Streamer!) There were a lot of good games featured yesterday and I’M DYING TO WRITE ABOUT THEM!

Also I hit 1k on Twitch! I am planning a 1k celebration/giveaway, currently getting details together with a clear head. I am just glad to be up and running and back to blogging 🙂
