🖤 Life Update
Hello everyone! I usually try to post my “what’s streaming” on the first of the month, but July has been quite challenging for me. Between the heat, air advisories from Canadian wildfires, and other things going on at home, I’ve had a lot to deal with.
A bit of good news — I completed my 2 courses! But job searching has been challenging.
🦇 Wednesday Season 2 Review (Part 1)

I binge-watched season 1 this past weekend, and it was okay, but I understand why a lot of the marketing and buzz for this new season focused on it being darker and gorier, etc. because season 1 was very tame. The “monster” looked like something out of a child’s book or Goosebumps. And they could’ve done better with the werewolf design, but I digress.
⚠️ WARNING: SLIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD
I tried my best to have as few spoilers as possible. I don’t like spoilers but I described best way that I can.
Episode 1: Here We Woe Again
Wednesday returns for another year at Nevermore, and this time her brother Pugsley is also a student. With Wednesday’s return, she is also very well known and now popular due to last year’s events with the Hyde and Miss Thornhill. There’s also a new Principal and a new sheriff. Wednesday’s stalker from the end of season 1 continues into this season, as well as a new mystery that may threaten the Outcasts and Nevermore. What impressed me about this episode was the animation for “The Tale of the Skull Tree,” beautifully created by Tim Burton.
Also, predicting a running theme for the season, around Edgar Allan Poe, an alumnus of the academy.
Also, love that they played Sisters of Mercy at the Founder’s Pyre 🙂
Wednesday’s psychic abilities are also faltering right after she was getting it under control during the summer break, which will be interesting to see how she proceeds to solve the mystery.
Wednesday’s stalker threatened to burn her manuscript of her novel she has been working on relentlessly, and will do almost anything to make sure that does not happen.
Episode 2: The Devil You Woe
While Wednesday is running away from the Pyre and what she caused with Enid, upset with her, she gets another vision of Enid’s death. The vision causes her to collapse and appear to seize. Morticia explains that the tears Wednesday is experiencing are caused by abusing the psychic gifts and to patiently wait for her guide, which Wednesday refuses. Later on Wednesday finds Galpin is found dead, by a murder of crows, another running theme for the season as well as mystery.
Meanwhile, it’s Prank Day at Nevermore, and Morticia is the new head of the Galla Committee, now living on campus. Morticia also needs to fundraise since Xavier Thorpe is no longer a student at the academy, and his father pulled all funding. Principal Dort asks Bianca to assist, mainly due to her siren song ability, and she siren songs Morticia to call her mother for the donation, with no memory of seeing Bianca.
Wednesday visits Tyler partly to tell him about his father’s death and makes a new ally at Nevermore.
Episode 3: Call of the Woe
Morticia tells Gomez she called her mother to ask to be the guest of honor at the Gala.
Wednesday gets more clues that Galpin left behind, which are near Camp Jericho, which coincides with Nevermore’s overnight trip there.
But Camp Jericho was double-booked by a group of cadets. Wednesday proposes a fight for the camp, which results in an epic competition between the cadets and the Outcasts.
Wednesday makes her way to the location Gelpin alluded to for what is going on with the murders and the crows. But since Morticia took Goody’s book of spells away from Wednesday in an attempt to protect her, Wednesday needs Goody’s book to get her psychic abilities back, so she challenges Morticia to a duel for the book.
Episode 4: If These Woes Could Talk
Wednesday pays her grandmother a visit. Uncle Fester is in town on Wednesday’s request to get himself committed to Willow Hills for more information on the case, but of course, whenever Fester is involved, things backfire. Wednesday concocts a plan to break him out of Willow Hills. I don’t want to say anything more, but it does end in a cliffhanger, in a typical mid-season “finale” second half airs and concludes on September 3rd.
